The method
What our method reads
NextFace reads visible, surface, changeable signals — the kind that shift with sleep, hydration, alcohol, sun and skincare. Here is exactly what that means, and what it will never mean.
What we read
| Signal | What it reads | Common drivers to test |
|---|---|---|
| Under-eye | Puffiness and shadow — the classic read of a short night or a heavy one. | Sleep · alcohol · salt |
| Tone & redness | Flush and warmth across the face that shifts day to day. | Alcohol · sun · heat |
| Recovery look | The overall "how rested does this face read today" impression. | Sleep · hydration |
| Hydration look | Surface dryness and dullness versus a plumper, fresher look. | Water · weather · skincare |
What we never do
- We never name a condition or an organ. We are not a doctor.
- We never compare you to another person, an ideal, or a "type".
- We never give a number, a score, a tier, or a percentile.
- We never assert a cause as fact — we offer common drivers as something to test.
- We never talk about worth. We talk about state you can change.
A versioned protocol
The read is generated by a versioned protocol. When we change how a signal is read, the version changes with it — so a read is always traceable to the exact method that produced it. This is a light, early-cohort protocol: honest and shareable, not a precision instrument. We say so plainly rather than dress it up.
The same signals drive your specimen. Burr’s state is just these surface reads, worn in a jar — a friendlier face for the same honest read, never a second hidden judgment. Your face stays private; Burr takes the hit.
